It’s that time of year again with a new academic year is starting. The Town of Wolfville will once again play host to an increased number of university students from across Canada and beyond who will make Wolfville their home. Some are returning students, part way through their studies, who are accustomed to life in our vibrant community. However, others are new to Wolfville, and this maybe their first time away from home and quite possibly their first time outside their native country.
With this in mind, the international students will be arriving to move into the Acadia University residence on August 29th, 30th and 31st, 2018. First time Canadian students will be arriving for move in to campus on September 1st and 2nd, 2018. There will a short road closure on Main Street near the University Avenue intersection on September 1st, at 2:40 pm for about 10 minutes for these students to attend a welcome ceremony on campus. Returning students are scheduled to arrive and move back on September 3rd and 4th. There will be street closures around the Acadia Campus on University Avenue, to accommodate the move in process on September 1st from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on the 3rd from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some of the Town residential streets will be extra busy with the off-campus students moving in. There will be a significant increase in activity in Town over these 7 days, with the first day of classes on September 5th, 2018. Please be tolerant of these temporary situations of moving into Wolfville and the Acadia Campus. If you observe an incident that way require a call for assistance, the R.C.M.P can be contacted at (902) 542-3817 or 1-(800)-803-7267, for non-emergency issues and obviously 911, for an emergency that needs immediate attention.
