Compost site opens April 16

The Maple Avenue Compost Site will open Saturday, April 16 and will be available every Saturday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm through November. 

Drop-off leaves and yard waste and/or pick-up a high organic content compost that can be used as a soil amendment. 

Depending on the availability, residents of the Town of Wolfville are permitted to pick-up a maximum of one half-ton truck load of compost or wood chips each Saturday. 

Residents picking-up materials from the Compost Site will be required to leave their name, address and phone number with the facility attendant. 

Materials accepted for drop-off at the compost site include leaves, miscellaneous vegetative materials, brush and limbs no larger than 3” in diameter, grass clippings, sod and uncontaminated soil. 

All materials must be clean and free of garbage, household compost, plastic bags or other contaminants. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to dispose of any plastic bags, tarps, boxes, etc., used to transport materials to the site in the refuse barrel provided. 

Items not accepted: tree stumps, rocks and other wood products, no food waste from green bins and no pumpkins in the fall.
