“Supporting healthier communities through giving!”

$3 Million Given to Local Communities over 20 Years

The Eastern Kings Memorial (EKM) Health Foundation recently celebrated the 20th Anniversary of its Grants Program.  The Trustees and Staff of the Foundation are proud to have served the 63 communities in the Eastern Kings catchment area since 1996.

Background

The EKM Health Foundation is a charitable organization that funds health-related projects within Eastern Kings County.

The Foundation evolved from the closure in 1994 of the former Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital.  Donations previously made to the former hospital were transferred to the Foundation with the intent that the income from these monies supports health-related projects in the local communities.  The Foundation is directed by a volunteer Board consisting of 9 Trustees, along with an Administrative Assistant who manages the Office.

The EKM Health Foundation is pleased to accept donations, bequests, and other gifts.  These gifts enable us to support healthier communities through giving.  The Foundation also receives requests for financial support from various health-related organizations, funding projects through a bi-yearly grants program.

How does the EKM Health Foundation promote a healthier community?

The Foundation disburses approximately $150,000 annually to support:

  • Women’s & Men’s Concerns
  • Seniors Issues
  • Infant Care
  • EKM Community Health Centre
  • Youth Nutrition & Activities
  • Community Service
  • Research
  • Valley Regional Hospital
