MPS Amendment Process

Over coming weeks/months we will be providing you with ‘What is the process for …’ communications to explain the various processes that occur at the Town Hall.

The first of these can be found here:

‘What is the process for … Amending the Municipal Planning Strategy in Wolfville?’

For those following the current Amendment to Municipal Planning Strategy we are at point ’c.’ – Public Participation Meeting (PPM) - on December 12th!

Draft Accessibility Plan

In the Spring of 2018, the Town of Wolfville became part of a provincial pilot group to adopt an Accessibility Plan in response to new legislative requirements. A Council Advisory Committee was created and they have been busy working through a process to:

  • Develop a draft Plan to forward to Town Council for approval and adoption.
  • Assist the provincial Accessibility Directorate in preparing a document to help guide all municipalities in achieving inclusive/accessible communities.

Your help and feedback in this process would be greatly appreciated!

The current working draft copy of the Plan is available by clicking here .  We would ask everyone to have a look, see what you think, and provide us with your feedback.  The next Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday December 17th, however we will continue to accept feedback into next year as the Plan will continually be reviewed by the Committee to ensure it remains current, practical and effective.

Thanks for your interest and feedback.

Please feel free to submit ideas to the Town’s Accessibility Coordinator: Mike MacLean

Upcoming Public Participation Meeting: MPS & LUB Amendments

Beginning at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018, the Town of Wolfville will hold a Public Participation Meeting in the Council Chambers of Town Hall – 359 Main Street – to discuss possible amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land Use By-Law (LUB). These amendments would establish clear parameters for the craft beverage industry in the Town of Wolfville.

The Town has been conducting a comprehensive review of its planning documents (MPS & LUB) and establishing parameters for the craft beverage industry (e.g. breweries, cideries, etc.) is a part of this work. The purpose of the meeting is to receive feedback on potential amendments to the planning documents related to this land use. Potential amendments will be presented at the meeting and feedback sought. The proposed amendments will be available as part of the Planning Advisory Committee Agenda Package, which is expected to be available on the Town website (www.wolfville.ca/planning-advisory-committee.html) by 4:30pm on Friday, December 7th.

The Planning Advisory Committee will provide a recommendation to Committee of the Whole (Council) on the amendments and Council will ultimately decide whether to amend the planning documents after a Public Hearing is held. If you cannot attend this meeting, feedback can be submitted in writing and will be included for PAC and Council consideration.

Further information may be obtained by contacting the Wolfville Community Development Department, 200 Dykeland Street, Wolfville, NS weekdays between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, by phone at 902-542-0368 or by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You may also ask to be added to the e-mailing list for these amendments so that we can keep you informed as the process moves forward.
