Soups and Sides - Celebrating African Heritage Month

Eat soup. Meet new people. Build community.

African Heritage Month provides an opportunity for everyone to learn, reflect, and celebrate the history, culture, achievements and contributions of people of African descent past and present.

To celebrate this opportunity, the Town of Wolfville is honoured to share the work of Acadia students who were supported by Dr. Marjorie Lewis to create a poster series to connect all of us to the lives and legacy of those who made a significant impact on this province. These posters have been available for viewing at Town Hall and will be featured on Monday, Feb. 23 at a special Soups and Sides.

Please drop by the Market on Monday, February 23 from 5 - 6:30 to enjoy this opportunity to enjoy some delicious food and a chance to connect with the lives and legacy of those who have helped shape this amazing province.

Soups and Sides is a free, weekly, community meal served at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market. Everyone is invited to drop by for soup and a side of community-building activities on Monday evenings from 5 - 6:30pm.

Our menu changes each week but we always offer two soups - one is vegetarian or vegan - and we have bread and sweet treats as well.

The program was imagined by Acadia students and is supported by the Town, Acadia University and the Wolfville Farmers’ Market to help people build new relationships while enjoying equitable access to delicious food that has been prepared by our community chef, Ayzhia Beaton, from fresh Wolfville Farmers' Market ingredients.

Each week, leftover soups are donated to the ASU Food Cupboard in support of Acadia students.

Guests are welcome to make a voluntary donation to support the sustainability of the program, but this is not a requirement.

Tonight we will celebrate African Heritage month!
