Terry Fox Run
After returning to Wolfville last year following several years’ absence, the Terry Fox Run will be happening again on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The run start will be at the Wolfville and District Lions Club Community Centre, 36 Elm Avenue. Registration for the 10 a.m. run/walk/bike/roll start begins at 9:30 a.m. Those unable to make the 10 a.m. start are welcome to register and participate later in the day. The Terry Fox Run center at the Lions Hall closes at 1 p.m.
Terry Fox Run organizer Richard Collicutt says last year the group of approximately 100 dedicated participants raised a record amount for Canadian cancer research. So far, in its 44 years of existence, the national run has raised about 950 million dollars.
“The Wolfville run site is one of about 650 across Canada that will be hosting the Terry Fox Run on Sept. 14,” said Mr. Collicutt. “It is one of seven runs in the Annapolis Valley.” The other Valley sites are Windsor, Hantsport, Berwick, Kingston/Greenwood, Bridgetown and Annapolis Royal.
Because of the current ban on entering wooded area in the province, the normal run route along the Harvest Moon Trail may be subject to change. Planned are two different routes; one being the unpaved Harvest Moon Trail heading east to Grand Pré and the other being the paved Main Street sidewalks heading east and west.
