Join local volunteers to tackle invasive species in Reservoir Park!
Three invasive species, Norway Maple, Multiflora Rose and Glossy Buckthorn are fast growing invasive species, blocking growth of native trees and understory plants across 25 acres of wooded parkland in Reservoir Park.
More volunteers are needed to support two ongoing projects:
- Removal of Invasive Species: Working mostly with simple hand tools and the notorious “Extractigator” weed wrench over Spring and early Summer.
- Replanting with Native Species: Replant cleared areas with a variety of native trees and herbaceous plants, selected to strengthen the forest tree community, maximize biodiversity and support native pollinators. This work occurs during the cooler months of the Fall.
