Acadia University and the Town of Wolfville are partnering to support and expand the community garden at the Acadia Community Farm, which is great news for residents who want to connect with the soil, meet new folks and grow their own food!
Established by Acadia students in 2008, the farm has long served as a community garden for Wolfville residents, while also acting as source of produce for the university dining hall, and a space for experiential learning. This new partnership will help ensure the long-term sustainability of the farm as our community grows, and support increasing interest in community gardening, and strengthen local food security.
As part of this transition, day-to-day management of the community garden will move to the Town of Wolfville, with support from Public Works and Parks & Recreation. Acadia’s Sustainability Office will continue to provide oversight on behalf of the university.
Available garden plots are approximately 12 x 20 feet for a full plot and 6 x 20 feet for a half plot. As in previous years, plot holders are responsible for their own soil amendments and supplies. Water is available on-site. Twelve full plots are currently available for community members who would like some space to garden in a community setting.
