Council has appointed Rob Simonds as Wolfville’s Interim Chief Administrative Officer, pulling him back from a recent retirement at the County of Colchester.

Simonds joins the Town as long-serving CAO Erin Beaudin starts her new role as Vice President, Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Acadia University.

Mayor Wendy Donovan was pleased to welcome Simonds to the Town.

“It was hard to say ‘goodbye’ to Erin, our amazing CAO, and we wish her all the best in her new role, just down the street,” Mayor Donovan said. “Rob has wonderful experience and he will be a great resource in the Town as we start the search for our next CAO.”

Besides extensive municipal leadership experience, Simonds has been a Fire Chief (Hamilton, Ontario), he teaches at Dalhousie University, and he was a past Director for the Association of Municipal Administrators of Nova Scotia. Simonds was also the President of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.

Town Council is now seeking support with the recruitment process to ensure that a suitable Chief Administrative Officer is found to lead the Town’s administration and to support Council in the implementation of their strategic goals.
