The Wolfville Recreation Team is coming to a neighbourhood park near you this summer with games and tacos!

We’re partnering with the Front Street Community Oven to host a Neighbourhood Cookout in your neighbourhood park, and we can't wait to see you there!

Visit the Wolfville Recreation team at the park that you feel the most connected to and join us in making and eating a meal together (all food will be provided), playing park games, and share with us all of your amazing programming and recreation ideas.

Over the past number of years, the Town has been made aware of negative interactions between off leash dogs and other Park users. Over the past months, the number of complaints has increased. 

As a result, Town staff have been working to gather information, as well as community feedback, to better understand the issues that are impacting public safety. This was presented to Committee of the Whole and Council in a report called RFD 023-2025 Off leash dog approach for Reservoir Park. You can read the full report, by clicking here.

At the June 17 meeting of Council, the following motion was passed:

THAT COUNCIL SUPPORT A TIME OF USE RESTRICTION AS A PILOT PROJECT, AS PERMITTED BY THE DOG CONTROL BYLAW, THAT WOULD REQUIRE ALL DOGS IN RESERVOIR PARK TO REMAIN ON LEASH BETWEEN 10AM AND 7PM DAILY, WHERE WE WILL RE-EVALUATE BY JANUARY 2026, WHERE THAT PERIOD WOULD BE USED TO GAIN FEEDBACK ON SEASONAL APPROACH OR ANY OTHER TOPICS THAT MAY ARISE.

So what does this mean for the people and dogs that use Reservoir Park?

Effective June 20, in accordance with Section 4 of Wolfville's Dog Control By-Law, dogs in Reservoir Park must remain on-leash between the hours of 10am and 7pm.

This change is part of a pilot project that will be evaluated with results and recommendations going to Council at Committee of the Whole on January 13, 2026.

During the summer months, staff at Wolfville Town Hall will be available to the public on Fridays by phone, email and appointment only.

Monday through Thursday, walk-in service at Town Hall will remain the same. 

This change in Friday service will begin on June 27, 2025, and continues until August 29, 2025.
