Highland Avenue Reconstruction Project Update

With the winter fast approaching, the Highland Avenue Reconstruction Project is entering the final stages for this season. Please review the following important updates that will apply to residents of Highland Avenue, from Catherine Court to Pleasant Avenue.

  1. Schedule

During the week of November 28, the contractor will begin placing road gravels on the roadway. The first lift of pavement will be completed the week after, following concrete curbs during the week of December 5. Direct notifications by the contractor for when driveways will be inaccessible will be issued prior to placement of the curbs.

  1. Highland Avenue Access

Until the gravel is applied, the roadway will remain muddy and only local traffic is permitted beyond the barriers for the duration of the project.

Residents with homes on Highland who are having difficulty navigating the roadway or accessing driveways are asked to communicate directly with the contractor for immediate assistance if needed. Tim Ward can be reached at (902) 309-1502.

Residents who would prefer to park on neighbouring streets (where permitted) will be able to request a vehicle-specific parking permit from the Town by November 30 that will provide a temporary exemption to time limits and overnight parking restrictions until Highland is again accessible. Please contact KOuterleys@wolfville.ca to obtain your temporary pass.

  1. Residents or visitors with mobility issues

Residents or visitors to Highland residences who have mobility issues can also contact the contractor for assistance in getting from home to vehicles parked on neighbouring streets. Tim Ward can be reached at (902) 309-1502.

  1. Temporary water and freezing temperatures

As temperatures drop, residents on temporary water are reminded to leave one tap running with no more or less than a pencil-sized stream of water. This will help prevent the temporary water lines from freezing.  Removal of temporary water services is anticipated to occur next week.

If you have difficulty with your water, the contractor is available for immediate assistance. Tim Ward can be reached at (902) 309-1502.

The Town of Wolfville thanks residents for their continued patience.
