A road closure on Main Street from Gaspereau to Elm happens on Friday, July 26 from 5 - 10:30pm. Detours will be in place. A fireworks show is planned at Wolfville Waterfront Park at 10pm on Saturday, July 27. The show will last for a few minutes. 

Welcome to Wolfville

As a Town (that's Wolfville) and Gown (that's Acadia) Community, the first weeks in September are busy ones!

We're happy to welcome new and returning students to Wolfville and everyone should expect the community to be a bit busier in the days ahead.

Expect traffic to be a bit slower along Main Street on September 2nd for move-in day, and for the matriculation procession on Saturday afternoon. Then, on Monday, from noon to 7pm, Main Street will be closed for our Welcome to Wolfville Street Party from Elm to Central Ave.

Here are some other events to be aware of:

Saturday, September 2nd:

  • Starting at 8:30am, more than 850 first year students will move into residence.
  • A special 'Student Welcome' themed Saturday Wolfville Farmers' Market day is planned that is especially focused on orienting new students/parents to the community and getting folks ready for the school year, from 8:30am - 1:00pm.
  • A formal Matriculation Ceremony will take place in University Hall at 2:00pm.
  • Acadia Football will take on St. FX, kicking off at 3:00pm.

 Sunday, September 3rd:

  • Orientation begins for all on and off-campus students and will officially kick-off with a welcome ceremony on the university hall stairs at 11:00am led by Mi’kmaq Elder-In-Residence, Joe Michael.
  • Students have a welcome barbecue at 12:00pm.

 Monday, September 4th: 

  • The 2nd Annual Welcome to Wolfville: Street Fair from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Main Street. This is a family friendly event with games, food, live music, and fun. All faculty, staff, students, town residents, and their families are invited to join in the fun.
  • Returning students move back to residence and to Wolfville.

  • Town Hall staff are available Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm to answer questions and provide support. Please feel free to drop by but, please note, our offices and work sites will be closed on Labour Day.
