The Homecoming 2025 schedule is now live and Acadia University is offering a ton of exciting activities for students and alumni. For those arriving in Town, please enjoy everything Wolfville has to offer, including our vibrant downtown.

What to expect this weekend:

• The Wolfville Fire Department will be hosting their annual ladder-sit on Main Street.
• RCMP will be adding extra members to ensure our streets stay safe. A mobile operations centre will be located on campus. RCMP will be enforcing under Town by-laws, like the Nuisance Party By-law, as well as Criminal Code and the Liquor Control Act. Please call 9-1-1 if you need assistance.

The Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department is ready to treat one of their own to a 24-hour shift in a bucket on their ladder truck.

This year, Tucker Hanshaw will be enjoying the view from high above Main Street, showing his commitment to community as he leads his team during their annual fundraising effort. The Lions are also helping out from Friday, September 17 at 6pm through Saturday at 6pm, when truck will return to the station.

Tucker is a third generation firefighter, following in the footsteps of grandfather Kirk (former chief) and mother Robin.

Tucker started at Wolfville Fire as a junior and is now a probationary firefighter with a quick wit, and a desire to help through his unwavering dedication to our community.

Come say "hi" to Tucker, our Fire volunteers, and members of our local Lions Club this weekend and please consider making a donation.

Please be aware that the ladder truck will be staged in the Subway Parking Lot on Main Street starting at 7am on Friday, October 17. This will reduce the stalls available to the public. The full lot will be closed at 6pm when Tucker is raised up in the bucket.

The Town of Wolfville, like many communities across Nova Scotia and Canada, is experiencing a period of change. A growing population, an increasing demand for housing, and shifting demographics create both new opportunities and complex challenges.

As we plan for the future, we are guided by a central question: how can we enable thoughtful growth that meets the needs of our residents—both current and future—while preserving what makes Wolfville a special place to live and visit.

To do this work, the Town is using the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) as a tool to support more inclusive development to meet the diverse housing needs of families, young professionals, seniors, and students.

Through our Housing Accelerator Agreement, the Town is considering an Action Plan that includes revising parking requirements, reducing development barriers, promoting non-market housing, and allowing more than one housing unit in traditionally low-density zones.

This Action Plan has been informed by residents, advisory committees, professionals, community partners and in the months ahead, these recommendations will be formalized through new Municipal Planning Documents, including the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw.

The Town of Wolfville is inviting applications for a full-time, permanent Fire Department Operator/Fleet Services. This role ensures the safe operation, maintenance, and reliability of the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department’s vehicles, firefighting apparatus, and related equipment, as well as supporting the custodial requirements of the building.

You will work closely with the Fire Chief, and volunteer members to keep the fleet and fire station ready at all times as well as contribute to broader departmental readiness, from equipment inspections and repairs to supporting training and fire prevention programs. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical skills in a community-focused role that directly supports the safety and well-being of Wolfville and surrounding communities.

We are seeking candidates with firefighting or mechanical experience, a strong technical background, and the ability to maintain and repair vehicles and equipment. The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities is essential; please tell us about your experience in similar roles in your cover letter.
