The Woofville Pooch Party offers free games, contests, and activities designed to delight doggos and their humans while also providing a chance for those without puppers to participate in the celebration.

New this year – a dog adventure course will provide hoops, jumps, tunnels, and teeter-totters to challenge agility while a ball pit and splash pools will delight adventurous dogs. For those who roll over for likes, a photo booth will be set-up on site and free Pawcasso pet portraits will also be available.

Once you work up an appetite, pup cake will be served to the pooches and humans will be invited to chow down on some delicious BBQ hot dogs.

Contests return to the celebration so bring your competitive spirit and go for the gold in best dressed, best trick and best dog categories. There’s even a group walk for hounds and humans.

The event runs at Waterfront Park in Wolfville on Saturday, June 17, from 10am to 1pm. The Mayor’s Pawclamation and contests start at 10:30.

This is a free event, but donations will be accepted for the SPCA to support animals impacted by the Nova Scotia wildfires. Everyone is welcome, even cat people.

Wednesday May 31, 2023, work will begin around 0900 on Main Street to repair a watermain leak. The work will take place on the North Side of Main St just East of Sherwood Dr and West of Maple Ave. Vehicles are asked to used caution when approaching the work area as traffic will be reduced to one lane with Traffic Control Workers in place to control the flow of vehicles through the work site. The duration of the work is expected to last most of the day and updates will be provided as needed.

A scheduled water interruption will affecting residents on Main Street, from Maple Avenue to Sherwood Drive. Residents are advised to stockpile the necessary water needed for this period before to 9:00AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

Once service is re-established you may experience some discoloured water. If so, you can flush your system by running the cold water for several minutes. This will help eliminate any dirt and air that may have gotten into the lines during the upgrade. It’s best to flush through a tap without a strainer such as a bathtub tap or outside hose bib.

Update for the week of May 29th the closure of Highland & Pleasant/Skyway will continue Tuesday, May 30th and Wednesday, May 31st as the crew needs the extra days to complete the work. The intersection will remain fully closed to all traffic for May 30 & 31 to allow for safe execution of the remaining reconstruction work.  Residents are advised to expect additional delays, closures, and/or detours around the work area (Highland Ave from Prospect to south of the Pleasant/Skyway intersection) while sidewalk, concrete curb, asphalt paving, and final landscaping/cleanup occurs towards the end of May.

The Town of Wolfville invites tenders for the supply and placement of asphalt (and related work) within the Town during the 2023/24 fiscal year. The estimated quantity for the Town is approximately 1,100 metric tonnes total.  Acadia University will issue a separate purchase authorization to the selected contractor for an additional estimated 500 metric tonnes, based on the same unit pricing and specifications of this contract.
