Advisory Committee Vacancies

Advisory Committees play a key role in local governance. Each committee focuses on a specific mandate, engaging in discussions, sharing information, and making recommendations to Town Council. Meetings are conducted in a formal setting, led by a chairperson and supported by Town staff, with all committees operating in accordance with the Municipal Government Act and Town Policy.

Committee members work on behalf of the community to review information, collaborate with fellow members, and build consensus to provide well-informed recommendations to Council. Members are regularly asked to review background materials ahead of meetings, including agendas, reports, documents, and correspondence that will be discussed.

Advisory Committees typically meet between four and twelve times per year, with each meeting lasting up to two hours.  The commitment will be for either 2- or 3-year terms.

Accessibility Advisory Committee
The Accessibility Advisory Committee works to make Wolfville a barrier-free community for people of all abilities. The committee reviews how Town programs, services, and facilities can be improved to remove obstacles and create inclusive spaces. Its goal is to help ensure that everyone can participate fully in community life.

Commitment:  the committee meet at least four times a year on Mondays 4:30pm-5:30pm.

Audit Committee
The Audit Committee helps ensure that Wolfville remains transparent and accountable in managing public funds. Members provide guidance on financial practices and review the Town’s financial reporting. Their work strengthens trust between the community and local government.

Commitment: the committee meets at least four times a year (additional meetings may be necessary) on Fridays 8:30am-10:30am.

Equity and Anti-Racism Committee
The Equity and Anti-Racism Committee supports efforts to make Wolfville a more inclusive and welcoming place for all. The committee highlights ways to reduce systemic barriers and address issues of racism and discrimination. It also promotes initiatives that celebrate diversity and equity throughout the community.

Commitment: the committee meets at least six times a year (additional meetings may be necessary) on Mondays 4:30pm-6:30pm.

Planning Advisory Committee
The Planning Advisory Committee gives input on land use planning and development decisions that shape Wolfville’s growth. Members consider issues like housing, heritage, sustainability, and community character when reviewing planning matters. Their advice helps ensure the Town grows in a balanced and thoughtful way.  We are currently looking for applications from persons who have heritage knowledge as defined below.

Heritage Knowledge - Members at large shall have professional experience related to at least one of the following disciplines: urban planning or development, landscape architecture, architecture, civil engineering, a background in heritage and/or built heritage matters and/or heritage research and planning.

Commitment: the committee meets monthly (except for the month of August) on Thursdays 4:00pm-6:00pm.

RCMP Advisory Board
The RCMP Advisory Board provides advice to Town Council in relation to the enforcement of law, the maintenance of law and order, and the prevention of crime in Wolfville as per Section 68(1) of the Police Act. The board brings forward community perspectives to support effective policing.

Commitment: the committee meets quarterly on Tuesdays 10am-12pm.

Source Water Protection Advisory Committee
The Source Water Protection Advisory Committee focuses on protecting the quality and sustainability of Wolfville’s drinking water supply. Members consider environmental risks and review strategies to safeguard the watershed. This work helps ensure clean, safe water for current and future generations.

Commitment: the committee meets quarterly on Wednesdays 2:30pm-4:30pm.

Want to meet new people, have some fun and eat some delicious soup? Then join the fun on Monday evenings at the Wolfville Farmers' Market and help us build community one bowl of soup at a time!

What is Soups and Sides? 

Soups and Sides is a community meal served each week at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market. This is a free, casual, drop-in experience where you are invited to enjoy two different soups (one is always vegetarian or vegan), some snacks and a "side" of community-building activities that help folks get to know each other.

We serve-up the fun on Mondays from 5 - 6:30 pm and you can drop-in for a quick bite or hang-out and make some new connections.

This is free?

Soups and Sides was designed to be barrier-free because having to pay an entry fee can limit opportunities. To build a more connected community, all community members need to have access.

If you really want to provide a donation, you can do this at the meal but it's not expected nor required.

How does eating soup build community?

With so much time spent online, or in our usual social networks,  we can sometimes forget how rewarding it can be to have a chat with new people. When we share a meal with people we don't know or, with people we don't know well, we have opportunities to share ideas, insights and to build connections. At Soups and Sides, we offer both the soup and the "sides" which are quick, fun activities meant to spark conversation, and build new connections.

How did this program start?

The program was visioned by Acadia students and brought to life by the Town, Acadia University and the Wolfville Farmers’ Market. We are now in our second year of operation.

How is this program funded?

The Town of Wolfville funds this program to help people build relationships while enjoying equitable access to delicious food. Support for this program is provided by Acadia University, though Chartwells and through donations by RBC Wolfville. Community donations also fund this program.

Who makes the food?

Our food is prepared by our community chef, Ayzhia Beaton with the support of volunteers. Ingredients are sourced from the Wolfville Farmers' Market and from local suppliers.

Each week, leftover soups are donated to the ASU Food Cupboard in support of Acadia students.

Who goes to Soups and Sides?

Families, students, seniors, groups of friends, solo soup lovers, and anyone who would like a hearty welcome and a few laughs.

The Town of Wolfville crews will be performing water pipe repairs on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The repairs will start at 8am and are planned to end at 4pm.

Once service is re-established you may experience some discoloured water. If so, you can flush your system by running the cold water for several minutes. This will help eliminate any discolouration or air that may have gotten into the lines during the upgrade. It’s best to flush through a tap without a strainer such as a bathtub tap or outside hose bib. 

The Town of Wolfville apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates your patience and understanding as improvements to the Town of Wolfville continue.
