Call for Expressions of Interest – Equity and Anti-Racism Advisory Committee
Municipalities and villages across Nova Scotia are working to develop equity and anti-racism plans, as required under the Dismantling Racism and Hate Act and associated regulations.
Expressions of Interest are now being welcomed from individuals who are interested in serving as a member of Wolfville’s new Equity and Anti-Racism Advisory Committee.
This advisory committee will be populated by people who live, work or study in the Town of Wolfville and who are from underrepresented and underserved communities including Mi’kmaq and/or people of Indigenous descent, African Nova Scotians, people of African descent, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, newcomers, and minority faith-based groups.
About this role:
Advisory committee members will help the Town by working with staff and Council, providing critical advice, perspective, lived experience and dialogue to help address systemic inequalities and foster collaboration through the development of the Town’s first Equity and Anti-Racism Plan and through the action items that will be established in the Plan.
The advisory committee will meet a minimum of four times each year. Additional meetings and tasks may be required in advance of our Equity and Anti-Racism Plan due date of April 1, 2025.
To be considered:
The Town of Wolfville welcomes and encourages a brief email, or letter, as an expression of interest from Black, racialized and Indigenous Peoples, 2SLGBTQ+, newcomers to Canada, minority faith-based groups and Persons with Disabilities.
If you are a member of a group that has been historically excluded from opportunities, we encourage you to self-identify when you express your interest in this opportunity.
Please feel free to share your pronouns and request accommodations to make this process more accessible.
Deadline:
Please provide your expression of interest by October 31, 2024.
