Wolfville is Wolfville because of the wonderful people who give time and energy to support community in so many unique ways. 

During National Volunteer Week, Council will announce Wolfville's new Volunteer of the Year. You can help make this happen by nominating someone who makes a difference as a volunteer by sharing their story.

Nominations:

If you know of a volunteer who has made a big impact here in Wolfville or if you know of a Wolfville resident who is making an impact in other communities, we would love to hear about them.

Nominations are now open and giving a nod to a special volunteer is as easy as sending a quick email to bshaw@wolfville.ca that contains the following:

  • The name of your favourite volunteer
  • What they do that is so special
  • How we can contact them
  • Your contact information

Please have your email submitted by Friday, March 13 at 5pm.

Nominees will be invited to a special event on Sunday, April 19, where Council will announce Wolfville's volunteer of the year. The Wolfville volunteer of the year will also be the Town's nominee for a Provincial award.

Snow Removal Street Closure: Main & Front Street

There will be a temporary street closure on February 26 from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM to allow crews to remove snow from Main Street and Front Street.

Main Street will close first at 11:00 PM, with a detour in place via Front Street from Elm Street to Harbourside Drive. Front Street will be closed afterward as snow removal operations progress.

Please avoid the area and remove any parked vehicles to allow crews to complete this work safely and efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

Council is looking to work with strategic partners in a sustained, multi-year relationship to help achieve community outcomes. 

Council is currently looking for strategic partners who are:

  1. Facility Operators who provide affordable multipurpose recreational space to the community
  2. Community Organizations that build capacity and provide benefit to the community
  3. Signature Festivals or Events that:
  • Are long-standing festivals or events (operating for a minimum of four years)
  • The Town has a partnership beyond a funding contributor with
  • Are primarily located in the Town of Wolfville
  • Have demonstrated rationale to indicate a positive economic effect resulting from attraction of attendees from outside of Wolfville

This is a four-year financial commitment by the Town that will provide up to $6,500 for each of the four years.

This summer, the Town of Wolfville will be returning with the Recreation Hub free bike/e-bike loan program. The Town is inviting applications for one (1) summer position with Wolfville Recreation Team to facilitate the Town's free equipment loan program from the Recreation Hub and will participate in the facilitation of community engagement sessions and community events. This individual will primarily support the promotion of cycling and active transportation through a barrier-reduced equipment loan program.
