To improve safety on our streets, access to some on-street parking will permanently change in the month of December. For all residents and visitors to the Town, posted signs are the best guide for what is and is not permitted, when it comes to on-street parking in the Town.
Hillside Avenue, on the East side, Prospect to Pleasant will become a permanent “No Parking” zone. This also applies to the West side from Prospect to the driveway at 14 Hillside. This change is happening because there is insufficient street width for parking on both sides. This will also improve pedestrian safety.
Both sides of Robie Tufts Drive will now be “No Parking” zones as well as the South side of Marsh Hawk Drive from Blue Heron Court to Robie Tufts Drive. These changes are also being made because of insufficient street width, poor sightline visibility and to support pedestrian safety.
On Willow Avenue, both sides, from Winter Street to Gaspereau Avenue, will become “No Parking” zones. This includes the area adjacent to the cemetery entrance. This location will also be signed with a notice to keep motorists from parking on the grass, allowing for enforcement if this continues.
The East side of Blomidon Terrace remains as a “No Parking” zone but signage has been improved. Changes are also coming to the lot behind Town Hall to support permit parking and a designated space for the Town’s new electric compliance vehicle.
In all cases, residents and visitors are reminded that posted signage is to be followed when taking advantage of on-street parking. Town compliance staff will be ticketing and or towing those who are not following the posted regulations.
