This summer, the Town of Wolfville will once again be offering Summer Environmental Education Camps. The Town is inviting applications for one (1) summer position with Wolfville Recreation Team to lead unique and exciting environmental education camps for youth. The primary role will be preparing, developing, promoting, and facilitating the outdoor focused summer day camps to develop environmental awareness in a fun and engaging way.

Strength in Unity Moving Forward with Purpose Prosperity Power and Progress

This year’s African Heritage Month provincial theme is “Strength in Unity: Moving Forward with Purpose, Prosperity, Power, and Progress.” The theme speaks to the power that comes when African Nova Scotians and people of African descent stand together with a shared sense of direction. It recognizes unity as an active force for change that strengthens communities, advances justice, and creates new opportunities.

African Heritage Month provides an opportunity for all Nova Scotians to learn, reflect, and celebrate the history, culture, achievements and contributions of people of African descent past and present. 

To celebrate this opportunity, the Town of Wolfville is honoured to share the work of Acadia students, who were supported by Dr. Marjorie Lewis to create a poster series to connect all of us to the lives and legacy of those who made a significant impact on this province. These posters will be available for viewing at Town Hall and will be featured on Monday, Feb. 23 at Soups and Sides.

This month, Wolfville Council will also begin to read a statement in recognition of the historic contributions of African Nova Scotians. This will follow a land acknowledgement and by policy, be read at all Council and Committee meetings.
