The crosswalk signal at Highland Avenue and Main Street is currently out of service while the town waits for replacement push buttons to arrive. Repairs will be made as soon as the new equipment is delivered. In the meantime, pedestrians are asked to use extra caution when crossing, and drivers are reminded to watch for people in the crosswalk. The Town of Wolfville is inviting community members to stay active, connected, and motivated this winter with the launch of the Wolfville Winter Wellness Challenge, a free, community-wide wellness initiative running throughout the month of February.

Launching on February 1, the month-long challenge is part of Wolfville’s winter programming and is designed to help residents maintain healthy habits during the colder months through simple, accessible daily activities. The challenge is delivered through the Wellnify.ai mobile app, which serves as a central hub for tracking movement, accessing on-demand wellness content, and participating in friendly community challenges.

The Wolfville Winter Wellness Challenge encourages residents to focus on small, achievable habits that support overall wellbeing. Participants can track their daily steps, complete short wellness activities, and earn points by engaging with the app throughout the month. The experience is inclusive and flexible, allowing residents to participate at their own pace and join at any time during February.

In addition to individual participation, the challenge emphasizes community connection. Wolfville residents will also take part in a community vs. community challenge against the Town of Kentville, adding a fun and motivating layer of friendly competition.

The challenge is powered by Wellnify.ai, a Nova Scotia–based wellness technology company focused on helping communities create healthier, happier, and more connected populations through accessible, community-driven wellness experiences.

Throughout February, participants will have opportunities to earn chances at local prizes and rewards, with multiple ways to engage - no competition or prior fitness experience required.

The Wolfville Winter Wellness Challenge reflects the Town’s ongoing commitment to supporting resident wellbeing, encouraging active living, and fostering connection during the winter season.

Property owners across the province will begin receiving their 2026 Assessment Notices by mail in the coming days.

Assessments are conducted annually by Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC), the province’s independent, municipally funded, not-for profit assessment authority. Values reflect market conditions as of January 1, 2025, and the physical state of each property as of December 1, 2025, including any renovations or demolitions.

This year’s Assessment Roll reaches $206.3 billion - a growth of 8% over last year.

“The 2026 Roll reflects steady growth across residential and commercial markets in Nova Scotia,” says Charlene MacNeil, Director of Assessment. “Smaller, affordable options such as manufactured homes remain strong, while industrial parks and vacant land lead commercial growth. Apartments, condominiums, and other multi-unit properties - such as duplexes - are also experiencing notable growth, driven by new construction provincewide.”

The Capped Assessment Program (CAP) rate is 2.6%, up from 1.5% last year. Approximately 72% of residential properties - 416,847 accounts - qualify for the CAP, which limits the amount the taxable assessed value can increase year over year.
