Jodi Mackay

Councillor

I was born in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island.  I grew up there with my parents and my two sisters.  Growing up, life consisted of school, various sporting activities – volleyball, badminton and track were the top three, and we spent Saturdays at my Grandparents Farm – and these are some of my fondest memories.

My parents bought the house across the street when I was in highschool and they still reside there.  I attended the University of Prince Edward Island where I studied Business/Accounting. I then went on to work in various businesses from Accounting Firms to Not for Profits and all sorts in between.  I currently work in Kentville managing a Collaborative Medical Practice, which I thoroughly enjoy.  Our team of talented women make this work very rewarding.

I moved to Vancouver for a stint of time, back to PEI and then headed to Halifax.  For some reason or another some girlfriends and I decided to head to Apple Blossom and on that day two of the four of us met our future husbands.

I  moved to Wolfville, and Rene was (and still is) a Golf Professional at Ken-Wo Golf Club. We married in 2007.  We welcomed a cute little Kooper Jaxon in 2008.   We spend a lot of our leisure time golfing and enjoying time with friends.  My summers now are busy travelling about while Kooper is living his best life full of golf.  We added to our family – as many did during Covid times – a puppy!  Mack is a now 2-year-old Mini Schnauzer and he has captured our hearts.

I love spending time outside even when not on the course, walking, biking and beaches are my favorite place to be.  I also very much like to shop.

My time spent in the community has mostly been spent in the school Community.  I have been part of the Home and School and the SAC while Kooper was in early elementary.  I have spent the last few years helping with school sports teams where needed, I also volunteer with the Junior program at the golf course.  I really enjoy the spirit of our youth and watching them thrive is incredible.

Council life has been a real pleasure to be a part of over the last two terms.  I have been part of various committees (Audit, Town and Gown, Source Water, Planning Advisory, RCMP, Annapolis Valley Trails and Kings Transit).  All of these committees have given me the privilege of learning a lot about their day-to-day activities and how they contribute to our lives as residents.  I also sit on a Physician Recruitment/Retention Committee which I really enjoy as well.
