Serving members of the idyllic community at the heart of Nova Scotia’s Wine Country, The Town of Wolfville is a team of skilled and engaged staff, ensuring excellent provision of municipal services, including utilities such as water and sewage, parks and recreation, corporate and financial management, planning and development and community services through the Town’s 15-million-dollar budget. The Town of Wolfville is proud of the highly educated and highly engaged community as home to one of the top universities in Atlantic Canada, Acadia University.

As the community manages unprecedented growth, the Town of Wolfville is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to champion the Town’s vision of a vibrant, progressive town at the center of a thriving and sustainable region, where residents, visitors, businesses, and the university bloom and grow.

What Does This Role Entail?

As the single employee of the Town Council, the Chief Administrative Officer provides effective organizational leadership to municipal staff, up to the council, and engages across the community of Wolfville. The CAO plays an integral role in shaping the future of this vibrant and growing community, by providing leadership and guidance to the Town’s team of experienced and dedicated staff and prudent guidance to the Mayor and Council. The CAO stewards the Town of Wolfville’s human, financial, and physical resources and encourages economic development that enhances the Town and supports long-term strategic directions and priorities. As a cap and gown town, the CAO is integral in building and maintaining relationships with Acadia University, initiating and leading projects and partnerships with the university. The CAO oversees the execution of programs and initiatives of the Council and ensures they are effectively implemented. The CAO advances the Town's priorities by working with community partners, including Acadia University and other government entities to enhance efficiency and ensure sustainable growth for the community at large.

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned leader with true credibility and experience in senior administrative roles in complex, public-sector environments. You possess a track record of success in leading and managing high-performing teams, operations, and budgets. You are result-driven and strategic, with demonstrated impact creating efficiencies, and effectively implementing, scaling, and optimizing service delivery functions.

Your leadership style is marked by collaboration and nurturing critical relationships among organizational and community stakeholders. Your adaptability and agility shine in dynamic settings, while your integrity sets the tone for a respectful and inclusive work environment. You demonstrate exceptional skills in conflict management, resolving disputes, and promoting collaboration among a variety of stakeholders, staff members, and council promoting positive relationships and maintaining productivity. You bring a deep experience leading organizational change initiatives and you seamlessly and creatively navigate ambiguity.

You are an exceptional and compelling communicator with a proven ability to inspire, engage, and influence others and can adapt your communication style to a variety of audiences, including the public and the media. Most importantly, you are deeply passionate about Wolfville, about community building and engagement, service excellence, and sustainable growth.
